A complete animal lover I could not resist to take a photograph of this Giraffe while standing high on a platform eye to eye and having the privilege of feeding her during a visit to Australia.

Watching her soft controlled movements and huge deep soul piercing eyes framed by her long luscious lashes was 

amazing as she gently took leaves with her extra long and dextrous tongue.

The Australian sunshine highlighted her coat beautifully and she seemed to be a perfect image for me to draw once I was home and looking back at my animal encounters.

Drawn in a slightly loose style I tried not to get too tied up with the detail of the hair or the background but wanted to focus on the shape of her horns and ears which then leads the viewers eye down to meet her big doe eyes.
